I love Dunnottar — the ruins remind me of a castle in Ireland where the kitchen fell into the sea during a storm! I’d not previously heard the overall term of ‘Aberdeenshire castles’ though I have heard of some of the individual castles before. I live just 5 minutes from the village of Dunnottar here in Manitoba, Canada, and had always thought that Dunnottar castle was in England. Now I know it’s near Aberdeen, Scotland!
